Infrastructure

Available Infrastructure

  • Public Water (Town of Plattsburgh)
  • Public Sewer (Town of Plattsburgh/City of Plattsburgh)
  • Natural Gas (NYSEG)

Investments

We have invested heavily in our water and sewer utilities to allow for significant residential growth, particularly in Town Center. Construction of new water tanks has increased storage by one million gallons, and our new Town Center wellhead produces over 800 gallons per minute of clean drinking water.

Water and Wastewater

The Town of Plattsburgh has a well-developed public water and wastewater system serving the commercial core and extending west, south, and out to Cumberland Head providing water for residential development.

Lighting

There is a Town-wide consolidated lighting district. Approximately 2500 LED streetlights efficiently illuminate intersections and populated areas.

Electricity & Natural Gas

New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) has an electric and gas franchise serving the Town. The Town is also home to Solar Power production facilities that provide electric credits to local business and residents. https://www.nyseg.com/

Highway

The Town is served by a robust network of State Highways including Interstate 87 (I-87), NY-9, NY-22, NY-3, NY-190, NY-374, and over 100 miles of local Town roads. Clinton County also maintains 350 miles of regional roads and 100 bridges.

Rail

The Town is served by the Delaware & Hudson Railroad which is operated by Canada Pacific and used by Amtrak passenger rail. The Town hots two rail-yard trans-load facilities. This rail corridor is a major transport route between major markets to the south and Montreal, Canada to the north.  https://www.amtrak.com/home.html  https://www.cpkcr.com/en/about-cpkc

Air

The Town is home to the Plattsburgh International Airport, providing convenient air travel to hub destinations. The airport is located on the former Plattsburgh Airforce Base and itself is home to a burgeoning aerospace industry. https://www.flyplattsburgh.com/

We feel that our location is ideal for us because of its proximity to a major shopping center and Route 3; however, it’s not in a congested area that makes it hard for our members to access. We also like that we remain close to SUNY Plattsburgh where we were first established so we can continue that relationship.

We are also grateful to the Town of Plattsburgh and Town Supervisor Michael Cashman, for
the opportunity to partner with them for a traffic light study which resulted in the installation of a traffic light at the corner of Rugar Street and Ampersand.
